「状況」や「状態」って訳の英語には、situation、state、conditionの３つの単語があるよね。でも、この３つの表現、微妙にニュアンスが違ってて、それぞれにピッタリの使いどころがあるんだ。
英単語のニュアンスをつかむためには、前後の文脈もあわせて例文をよむのがイチバンなんだけど、そこをあえて一言でいうと次のようになるんだ。
situation = 状況（取り巻く）
condition = 状態（特定の）
state = 状態（一般的な）

situationとconditionの違い
つぎの例文を読むと、ピンとくると思うけど、situationと言うのは、「環境」+「状況」の意味で、いわば「取り巻く状況」のことなんだ。一方の、conditionは「何者か」の「状態」のことなんだ。
